LaHoma C. Gutting
LaHoma C. Gutting, age 86, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Monday, March 6, 2006 at her home.
She was born January 9, 1920 at Douds, IA, a daughter of David and Clarissa Pickens Hootman.
On January 23, 1941, she was united in marriage to Vance Earl Gutting.
He preceded her in death on February 23, 1983.
Survivors include two sons, Earl Dean Gutting and his wife, Patty, of Bardolph, IL and Richard Allen Gutting and his wife, Judy, of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Mary Martha Kaneff of Keokuk, IA; two brothers, Ralph D. Hootman and his wife, Betty, of Burlington, IA, and Gail Hootman and his wife, Sharon, of Altoona, IL; two sisters, Izeane Garnett of Kahoka, MO, and Joy Long and her husband, Gary, of Danville, IA; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Claire Summerall of Ottumwa, IA and Ronald Lee Gutting and his wife, Dixie, of Wyaconda, MO; four grandchildren: Denise Reynolds of Phoenix, AZ, Eddeana Hardy and her husband, Tony, of Montrose, IA, Tracie Gutting of Phoenix, AZ, and Debbe Goldie of St. Louis, MO; nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Edward Darrell; two grandchildren, Dylan and Terri Beth; and two sisters, Annabelle Wilson and Pearl Kelly.
LaHoma graduated from Revere High School and later became an L. P. N. She had worked hard all of her life, usually holding two jobs at a time, and mainly caring for other people. For many years she owned and operated Gutting's Boarding Home in Kahoka and D and D Motel in Memphis. She was a member of the Kahoka Christian Church and of the Moose. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and needlework of all kinds. She also loved growing flowers and enjoyed working in them. She especially loved her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 9, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Dick Clifford officiating. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk, IA.
Friends can call after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
