LELA A. BOYLAN

Lela A. Boylan, age 100, of Kahoka, MO, died Monday, November 13, 2006, at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

She was born May 8, 1906, at Hoisington, KS, a daughter of Oliver and Susie Waggamon Lewis.

She was married to Paul Boylan who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two nieces and a nephew and their families: Carolyn and Sam LaFrenz of Kahoka, MO, Marilyn and Jim Murray of St. Louis, MO, and Jim Lewis of St. Peters, MO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, as well as four brothers and three sisters.

Lela graduated from high school in Michigan. She lived in that area most of her life, operating a health food store with her husband, Paul. She had moved to Kahoka in 1994 to be near her niece, Carolyn LaFrenz and her family. Lela was very community minded and helping provide opportunities and resources to those who might not otherwise have them was very important to her. Some of her many civic memberships included the A.C.L.U, Women's Action Council, National Organization of Women, and Southern Poverty Law Center.

At her request, her body was donated to medical science for research. Therewere no services.

Memorials in her honor may be made to the Clark County Food Pantry.
