Leona Faye Young

May 3, 1958 — January 1, 2025

Kahoka

Leona Faye Young, 66, of Kahoka, MO ran into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at the Clark County Nursing, Kahoka MO. She ran because she was so happy to see her Savior face-to-face!

She was born May 3, 1958, in Keokuk, IA., to Joseph L. "Skeet" and Ava (Barwick) Young. Most knew her by Leona, but those who were privileged to know her personally, called her "Nonie"!

Leona had one of the largest hearts in the world! She never knew a stranger! She would've given the shirt off her back, the shoes off her feet, and the food off her plate, to anyone in need. She might have even given them her "fountain Mt Dew with a little ice from Casey's", but they would've really needed to be in dire need for that! She had no biological children of her own, but she had many people who looked to her as their second mother. She loved animals and called them her "kids", too.

She trusted God to provide for her EVERY need, and He certainly did! Her last three vehicles were given to her! She truly believed and lived it out that God would make a way where there seemed to be none. She loved spending time with family and friends, volunteering at church, helping others, and going to Christian music concerts. She shared the love of Jesus to those around her because she wanted others to have the free gift of Salvation, too. When asked how she was doing, Leona's response was usually: "FAT, SASSY, and BLESSED ALWAYS!"

Leona graduated from Clark County high school in 1976, and Hannibal-LaGrange College in 1978. She worked hard at many jobs and places including: Kahoka Cheese Factory, Commerce Bank, Kahoka City Clerk, and Best Boarding Home, but her longest employment was with the Clark County Nursing Home for 20 plus years.

She is survived by her siblings: Alvin Young of Montrose, IA, Larry (Joyce) Young, of Kahoka, MO., Vera Morris of Kahoka, MO., sister-in-law: Betty Young and brother-in-law: Wayne Zinnert both of Kahoka, MO. Nieces: Terry Beth Young , Tracy (Jim) Sturm, Kim (Shannon) McNamar, Melissa (Randal) Foss, Roberta (Pat) Webster, Heather (Claude) Martinez, Denise (Matt) Shannon, Skeeter (Jay) Zinnert, Jody (Tommy) Amos, and Sarah (Peter) Coulter. Nephews: Eric (Andrea) Young and Josh Young, extended family and special friends (you know who you are).

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joe Young; sisters: Wanda Davis, Jeanette Zinnert; in-laws: Dennis York, Ernie Morris, Lyle Davis, Marilyn Young; and nephews: Danny Scharfenberg, James Davis, Chris Young, and Noah Gould.
