LINDA MAE MASON GRIFFIN
Linda Mae Mason Griffin, age 57, of Hannibal, MO, died Sunday, July 30, 2006 at her home after a 3 year courageous battle with cancer.
She was born October 13, 1948 in Muscatine, IA, a daughter of Harry Luther and Mildred "Millie" Odom Mason.
Linda was raised in Morning Sun, receiving her G.E.D. at Burlington, and later working as a C.N.A. in the Morning Sun area. She visited friends in Kahoka often and it was there that she met Richard W. Griffin who proposed to her during the Clark Co. Fair. They were married in Kahoka on September 1, 1964. They lived in Kahoka for several months and then moved to the south, spending time in Arkansas, Mississippi, and Louisiana where she was employed by Wal-Mart. During that time they returned to the Morning Sun area several times, finally returning to Missouri when she became ill to be near family. She and Richard moved to Kahoka two years ago and to Hannibal this past April to be closer to the cancer center.
Linda is survived by her husband, Richard, of Hannibal; her mother, Millie Odom of Morning Sun, IA; four sons, Richard W. "Junior" Griffin, Jr. of Palestine, TX, John A. Griffin and his wife, Candie, of Canton, MO, Melvin F. Griffin and his wife, Sandra "Kay" of Troy, AL, and Randy W. Griffin and his wife, Mira, of Hannibal, MO; one daughter, Mary B. Griffin of Hannibal, MO; a step daughter, Mary Murphy of Kahoka, MO; one brother, Walter "Bill" Bloom
of Luray, MO; one sister, Ruby Steele and her husband, Chuck, of Morning Sun, IA; 13 grand-
children; many great-grandchildren; life-long friends, George and Sandra Ellis of Alexandria, MO; as well as other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father; her grandparents; a daughter, Gloria Lynn; and a daughter-in-law, Becky.
Linda was an amateur ham operator and enjoyed fishing and camping, collecting light-houses and singing karaoke. Linda had many interests, but her greatest joy came from her family and being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 3, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Dick Clifford officiating. Burial will follow in Sand Cemetery at St. Francisville followed by a 1 p.m. luncheon at the Kahoka Christian Church.
Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home after 10 a.m. Wednesday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the family.
