LINDA KAY WHITAKER

Linda Kay Whitaker, age 43, of Kahoka, MO, died on Saturday, July 24, 2004 in Keokuk Area Hospital.

She was born June 10, 1961 in Benbow, MO, a daughter of Clarence and Jennie Jones Whitaker.

Survivors include a son, Donald E. Whitaker and his girlfriend, Kali and their daughter, Zaria, of Kahoka, MO; one daughter, Heather Whitaker of Kahoka, MO; two brothers, Ralph Whitaker and his wife, Sue, of Lorraine, IL, and George Whitaker and his wife, Linda, of Durham, MO; three sisters, Jessie Heriford and her husband, Bob, of Kahoka, MO, Bonnie Crawford of Tama, IA, and Helen Osborn of San Moreno Valley, CA; sisters-in-law, Cheryl Whitaker of Argyle, IA, Debbie Whitaker of Palmyra, MO, and Sue Whitaker of Ewing, MO; special cousins, Francis and Elizabeth McDermott of Durham, MO; Verlin McAfee of Kahoka, MO, who was a special friend to her; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; as well as siblings, Robert, Larry, Donald, Norman, Clarence and Dolly and a brother and sister in infancy.

Linda was a graduate of Highland High School. She received her LPN from Hannibal Vo-Tech and later graduated as an RN from Indian Hills in Ottumwa. She had been employed as an RN at Keokuk Area Hospital in the Psychiatric Unit for the past 8 years and had been a part-time employee of the Clark Co. Ambulance District and Regional Home Health Care.

She was a member of the Peaksville Christian Church and of Kahoka Chapter #40,O.E.S. Linda was a devoted mother and always put her children first. She enjoyed collecting music boxes, Thomas Kinkeade art work, and angels. She also loved to read.

Funeral services are Monday, July 26, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery. Visitation will held after noon on Sunday with O.E.S. services at 6 p.m. followed by family receiving friends until 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested for her children's education fund.
