MARIALEE COSSEL
Marialee Violet Cossel, of Marietta, GA, formerly of Kahoka, MO. passed away Jan. 19, 2009 in Marietta.
She was born Oct. 9, 1919 in Schuyler County, MO, the daughter of Paris and Zella Ryals Wheeler. She was married to Cecil Eugene Cossel Sr. on Nov. 14, 1937. They were married for 61 years before his death on Aug. 28, 1999.
She is survived by three children and their spouses: Cecil Eugene Cossel Jr. and his wife Marjorie of Montrose, IA. Marialee Kay Parris and her husband William of Poplar Grove, IL. and Karen Frances Young-Kuntz and her husband Ronald of Marietta, GA. Thirteen grandchildren: Jana Gould Moore, and Phillip Cossel and his wife Brenda all of Montrose, IA, Chuck Gould and his wife Robin of Fort Smith, AR, Robert Gould and his wife Linda of Fort Madison, IA, Frank Cossel of Burlington, IA, Johnna Parris Garner of Clarklake, MI, Konrad Parris and his wife Suzi of Capron, IL, Jennifer Parris of, St. Anne, IL, Tony Young and his wife Pinky of Hickory, NC, Shawn Young and his wife Valerie of Novato, CA, Angela Boggess and her husband Mike of Harrison, TN, Chad Kuntz and his wife Kelli, and Bret Kuntz and his wife Chantel both of Prairieville, LA; twenty- five great grandchildren: Jeri Duncan, Shannon Johnson, Heather Moore, Marialee DePriest, Courtney Massey, Levi Gould, Frank II, Cassandra and Melissa Cossel, Sarah Gould, John and Ava Parris, Amy Garner Stiller, Mitchell Garner, Cecilia, Mallory , Olivia Young, Fiona and Sean Young, Avery, Alicia and Eric Boggess, Lauren Romig, Rhegan and Cade Kuntz; nineteen great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many other relatives, and special friends, Debbie Dilks, Loren and Beverly Rahn, George and Marsha Coffin, and Tammi Hurt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son-in-law, Byron Young, grandson in-law, Robert Garner, two great grandchildren, Adam Gould, and Aoife Young, and one great great grandchild, Verna Nelson. She survived two brothers, their wives, four sisters, their husbands and one sister in infancy, several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She raised chickens and had a large garden to help support her family in the early years of her married life. She worked at The Coffee Shop in Kahoka, MO four years and Clark County School System, food service ninteen years. She loved gardening, cooking, canning, sewing and reading. Her last few months she enjoyed her new friends at Mt. Bethel Senior Center. She was very witty and always came home with prizes from bingo and trivia. They loved her stories and smile.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 24, 2009, at 11 a.m. at the Kahoka United Methodist Church with Pastor Barb Hagerla officiating.
Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.
