MARIE ELIZABETH COOK SAWYER
Marie Elizabeth Cook Sawyer, age 75, of Kahoka, MO, died Tuesday, December 2,2003 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
She was born July 29, 1928 in Mapleton, IA, a daughter of John H. and Louisa Della Mae Kinkeade Schulte.
She was married to Richard David Cook on December 21, 1946 and they were the parents of four children, Dixie, Patricia, Kathleen and James. Richard preceded her in death on October 10, 1970 and she was later married to Howard L. Sawyer on October 6, 1973 at Revere, MO.
Survivors include her husband, Howard Sawyer, of Kahoka, MO; one son, James David Cook and his wife, Cindy, of Kahoka, MO; three daughters, Dixie Elaine Laymon and her husband, Richard, of Warrenton, MO, Patricia Mae Eddleman of Aurora, IN, and Kathleen G. Coppler and her husband, Bruce, of Alexandria, MO; two stepsons, John Sawyer and his wife, Lois, of Balingup, Australia and Tom Sawyer and his wife, Karen, of Aurora, CO; one sister, Alice Parsons of Kahoka, MO; one brother, Raymond Schulte of Keokuk, IA; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Elwell of Revere, MO, Jane Cook of Donnellson, IA, Ruby and Earl Martin of Battleground, WA, and Mary and Hector Corrall of Melbourne, FL; seventeen grandchildren:
Ryan and Amy Laymon, David Laymon, Travis and Cindy Eddleman, Clint and Malachi Eddleman, Kristi Eddleman, Bill Esterday and his fiancé, Heather Gill, Nick Esterday, Beau, Andrew, and Cody Cook, John, Paul, Danny and Taylor Sawyer, Jody and Michelle Coppler, Jeff Coppler, and, Jamie and Terry Hamelton; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard Cook; and a half brother, Oliver Lund.
Marie was a 1946 graduate of Revere High School. She had lived most of her life in Revere and had worked at the Chrisman Grocery Store there. She loved to bowl and was an avid bowler and Cardinal Baseball Fan. She also loved listening to Country music. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services are Friday, December 5, 2003 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating. Burial will be in Revere Cemetery.
Friends can call after 10 a.m. Thursday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Wilson Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Revere Community Center or the Revere Cemetery Fund.
