MARION JAMES ROBERTSON, JR.

Marion James "Jim" Robertson, Jr., age 68, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines, IA.

He was born April 18, 1938 at Washington, IA, a son of Marion and Lola Alliman Robertson.

Survivors include three brothers: John Robertson and his wife, Shirley, of Sarasota, FL, Don Robertson and his wife, Bev, of Washington, IA, and Larry Robertson of Washington, IA; two sisters, Marilyn Chmelar and her husband, Franklin, of Caldwell, TX and Roberta Helmich and her husband, Jim, of Williston, FL; a good friend, Robert Dunbar of Kahoka, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim graduated from Washington High School in 1956 and cosmetology school in Cedar Rapids, IA. Following graduation he went to work in Des Moines, later returning to Washington where he was a successful hair stylist for many years. He moved to Clark County, Missouri, in 1978, farming near Luray. He also worked several years for the City of Kahoka in the light plant.

He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka and a member of the chancel choir. He was also a member of the Evening on Broadway singing group and of the Clark Co. Historical Society.

As a young man, Jim raised Arabian horses and participated in horse shows. Music was always a very important part of his life and he was a well-known singer in the area and also loved to play the organ. He raised five large gardens and loved to share the produce with friends and neighbors. Friends and family were very important to Jim, and he faithfully kept up with all of his nieces and nephews activities and they were just like his own children.

His laughter will be missed by all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held Friday, September 8, 2006 at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka, MO with Rev. Kenneth Beckmann officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Sandy Hook Cemetery in Brighton, IA.

Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Thursday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the St. Paul United Church of Christ Chancel Choir.
