MARVIN G. MACK

Marvin G. Mack age 76, of rural Kahoka, MO, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at his home.

Marvin was born February 26, 1943, a son of Carl Frederick and Effie Maxine Higgins Mack.

He was married to Marlene Sams Walker in 1974.

Survivors include his wife, Marlene, of Wayland, MO; three children from previous marriages: Connie, Tim and Freddie; three step children: Angela Walker Luna of Jones, OK, Martha Johnson of Mooresville, IN, and Marlene Gates of Burlington, IA; several grandchildren including Coleeta Dixon of Augusta, GA, Stephanie Reusch of Burlington, IA, Josiah Gates of Kansas City, MO and Jesse Gates and Rebecca Hartje both of Burlington, IA; several great grandchildren; a brother, Orville (Rose) Mack of Dale, OK; several nieces and nephews including Larry Mack, Jr. of Kahoka; as well as other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Larry Mack, Sr.

Marvin worked hard all of his life. He quit school at an early age and went to work as a ranch hand, fibbing about his age in order to get a driver’s license. He was a self-taught mechanic and welder and had worked for Feinberg’s in Fort Madison for a number of years. The majority of his life was spent as an over the road truck driver, logging in millions of miles while traveling the nation.

He enjoyed reading and studying the scriptures, watching western movies, his trains and was a huge John Wayne fan.

Funeral services were held Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with his grandson, Josiah Gates, and nephew, Larry Mack, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in the Bonaparte Cemetery, Bonaparte, IA.

Memorials may be made to the family in order to defray funeral expenses.
