MARVIN V. RIDGELY
Marvin V. Ridgely, age 71, of Williamstown, MO, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 in Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN of acute leukemia.
He was born September 26, 1932 near St. Patrick, MO, a son of Harry Vernon "Shorty"and Edna Mae Bash Ridgely.
On January 14, 1955, he was united in marriage to Louise Bishoff at Williamstown, MO. and to this union three daughters were born.
Survivors include his wife, Louise, of Williamstown, MO; three daughters, Marvis Louise Landon and her husband, John, of Ankeny, IA, Bethany Sue Lacy and her husband, Sean, of Bloomington, MN, and Bobbie Jo Ridgely and her husband, Michael McGroary of Middletown, NJ; five grandchildren: Eric and Morgan Landon, Emily and Olivia Young, and
Molly McGroary; one brother, Darryl Ridgely and his wife, Delores, of Lake Ozark, MO; an aunt, Nettie Bash, of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Marvin was a 1951 graduate of Williamstown High School and U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He farmed and had other business concerns in both Lewis and Clark Counties. He received the Soil Conservation Award for the Lewis County District in both 1969 and 1997 and in 1979 was named a Master Pork Producer by the Missouri Pork Producers Association. He was a member of Williamstown Masonic Lodge # 370, A. F. & A.M., American Legion Post # 0578 at Lewistown, MO, Kahoka Chapter # 40, O. E. S., and the Gideons. He was also a faithful member and deacon of the Providence Baptist Church near Williamston and served on various community boards throughout the years.
Marvin's hobbies were hunting, fishing, and gardening, and he enjoyed being a husband, father, and grandfather. Although busy with his farm life and involvement in organizations in the surrounding communities, his main desire was to lead a Christian life, witnessing to others of the saving power of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 29, 2004 at 1:30 p.m at Providence Baptist Church near Williamstown, MO with burial and military rites in Providence Church Cemetery.
Officiating the service will be Pastors Mark Lowman and Shawn McAfee.
Visitation will be after 1 p.m. on Friday at Wilson Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. followed by a public masonic service at 8 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Gideons.
