WORLD WAR II VETERAN
Marvin H. Sederburg, 98, of Luray, MO, passed away at 10:40 am, on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua, Iowa, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 6, 1926, in Red Oak, Iowa. The son of Harry E. and Mae E. (Haymaker) Sederburg. On February 10, 1947, he was united in marriage to Margie E. (Dean) Sederburg. Margie preceded him in death on December 18, 2011.
Marvin attended Fairplay School in Luray, Missouri. When Marvin turned 19, he was enlisted in the United States Army from January 1945 until he was honorably discharged in January 1947. Marvin was the last WWII veteran in Clark County.
Marvin lived North of Luray, MO., and has lived in the same house since he was 7 years old. In 1960 Marvin was hired by Bill Gutting, owner of Kahoka Motor Company and then later Mike Gutting. He was a mechanic for Kahoka Motor. He saw a lot of changes in his day over the 50 years that he worked there. He retired in 2010 at the age of 84. Marvin was dedicated to his job, customers and to the Gutting family. In Marvin's early years he loved to hand fish, hunting with family, but most of all he enjoyed getting together with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marvin was a simple man with a great smile and a caring heart.
Marvin is survived by his children: Freddie (Carol) Sederburg of West Plains, MO., Stanley Sederburg of Gary, IN., Darlene Magruder of Shelbina, MO., Judy (Chancey) Cordray of Luray, MO. Grandchildren: Angela (Mark) Schindler, Heather (Matt) Squires, Jamie Magruder, Christopher Cordray, Amber (Chris) Moeller, Chancey Cordray, Ashley Majewski, Zack (Leeza) Majewski, Brittnay Sederburg, Zayne (Jill) Sederburg. Great Grandchildren: Breckin Schindler, Samantha Schindler, Ethan Squires, Shelby Cordray, Alexis (Chase) Harl, Stephanie Sammons, Miranda (Michael) Wiseman, Kyle Golbricht, Riley Moeller, Lisa Stewart, Kaylee Stewart, Kayden Boyd, Roland Majewski, Marvin Majewski, Clayton Sederburg. Great Great-Grandchildren: Mackenzie Sammons, Madison Sammons, Hank Maher, Tucker Maher, Wyatt Wiseman. Sisters-In-Law: Mary Jo Dean Howell and Pauline Cordray. Additional honorary son: Mike and Connie Gutting, their family and the Kahoka Motor Staff family, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 65 years Margie, brother: Miles Sederburg, son-in-law: James Magruder, sisters-in-law: Margaret Sederburg, Cathern Huston, Darlene Dean, brothers-in-law: John Huston, Harold Cordray, Bill Dean, CJ Dean, Dale Dean. Nephews and nieces: Donnie Dean, Eddie Dean, Junior Huston, Adam Sederburg, Marlena Dean, Lila Claring, and Summer Dean.
Funeral Service with full Military Rites for Marvin Sederburg will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home in Kahoka, Missouri. Matt Gutting will officiate. Burial at the Combs Cemetery in Luray, MO. Visitation with family present will be held on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Wilson & Triplett funeral Home.
Memorial contributions in memory of Marvin Sederburg are suggested to the Local Clark County Cancer Fund or Combs Cemetery.
