MARY L. BROOMHALL
Mary L. Broomhall, age 96, of Kahoka, MO, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011, at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.
Mary was born July 16, 1915 in Acasto, MO, a daughter of Charley and Inez Brewster Kennedy.
She graduated from Kahoka High School in 1934 and it was there that she met her future husband, Raymond Harold Broomhall. They dated for four years before getting married in October of 1935. They had worked together at a restaurant in Memphis, MO, he as manager and she as a waitress. "Broomie" proposed to her at work. They were faithful companions until his death in August, 1981.
Survivors include her son, Raymond Harold "Butch" Broomhall, Jr. and his wife,
MaryAnn, of Surprise, AZ; two grandchildren, Teresa Marie Howard of St. Peters, MO and David Eric Broomhall and his wife, Lezli, of Des Moines, IA; three great grandchildren: Kyle James Howard, Joziphene Leona Broomhall, and Zachary Heinz Broomhall; as well as other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Norma McQuirre and her husband, Stanmore; two brothers, Howard and Glen Kennedy; and a sister, Doris Parrish.
Mary worked hard all of her life and was employed by the Clark Co. R-1 School District in the cafeteria at her retirement. She also worked for Mary Weber at the Kahoka Sale Barn.
Mary Lou had been baptized as an adult into the Methodist Faith. Some the things she really enjoyed were crocheting, watching her favorite team, the Cubs, and playing rummikube. She loved spending time with her friends and family.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 3, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Dan Steinbeck officiating. Burial was in the Kahoka Cemetery.
Memorials were suggested to the Clark Co. Senior Center.
