MARY ALICE KINKEADE
Mary Alice Kinkeade, age 84, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born May 8, 1922 at Kahoka, a daughter of Harry and Eva Walker Brammer.
She was united in marriage to Walter H. Kinkeade on May 26, 1949, in Texas.
Survivors include: one son, Lewis Kinkeade and his wife, Anita, of Columbia, MO; one daughter, Lisa Wolber and her husband, Dr. Kent Wolber, of Hannibal, MO; three grandchildren:Greg Kinkeade and his wife Rebecca, of Columbia, MO, Katie Kinkeade of Columbia, MO, and Claire Wolber of Hannibal, MO; two sisters, Helen Hoewing of Davenport, IA and Edna
Buckallew and her husband, Glen, of Kahoka, MO; sisters-in-law: Zola Brammer and Naoma Brammer, both of Kahoka, MO, Nina DeVore of Reno, NV, Mary Jeanette Christensen of Cheyenne, WY, and, Ruth Kinkeade of Irving, TX;as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Harold and Robert Brammer; two sisters, Myrtle Beall and her husband, Arthur, and Lucile Maddox Higbee and her husbands, Clyde Maddox and Lewis Higbee; also, sister-in-law, Alberta Hagerman and brothers-in-law, Bernard Hagerman, Henry Kinkeade, Charles Christensen, Wilson Hoewing,and Jerry DeVore.
Mary Alice graduated with Walter from Wayland High School in the class of 1941 and later from Truman State University at Kirksville. She taught in the Keokuk School District and also in the Clark County R-1 District until retiring. She was a member of Mo. Retired Teachers and also of the Delta Kappa Gamma.
Mary Alice was an active and faithful member of the Southern Baptist Fellowship Church at Wayland. She and Walter made it their ministry to visit people in the hospital and shut-ins and share their friendship and love of Jesus. They were members of C. O. M. (Campers on Mission), traveling and building churches so others could hear the gospel message. She also was a volunteer with the Keokuk Area Hospital Auxiliary and was formerly a member of the Wayland Senior Housing Board.
She was a caring school teacher and Sunday School teacher. She took a special interest in the children and loved every one of them. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a role model to her family and faithful to them and to her Lord. She was truly a virtuous woman.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, November 12, 2006 at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Brother Dan Steinbeck officiating. Burial will follow in the Kahoka Cemetery.
Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home after 4 p.m. on Saturday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials in her honor are suggested to the Southern Baptist Fellowship Church, Wayland, MO.
