MARY ALICE SMELTSER
Mary Alice Smeltser, age 83, of Wayland, MO, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 in Keokuk Area Hospital.
She was born July 2, 1924 in Warsaw, IL, the daughter of Ernest and Clara Louise Freeman Pruett.
On February 15, 1942, she was united in marriage to Floyd Smeltser Sr in Alexandria, MO. They were married for 47 years before they divorced.
Mary Alice was of the Baptist faith. She was a homemaker and enjoyed needlework and sewing.
Survivors include three sons, Floyd Smeltser Jr and his wife, Kathy, of Smithton, MO, Roger Smeltser and his wife, Kitty, of Hamilton, IL, Steve and his wife, Cora, of Kahoka, MO; two daughters, Pam Wright and her husband, Wayne, of Wayland, MO, Kathy Carr and her husband, Mike, of Keokuk, IA; three brothers, Ernest Pruett and his wife, Lyle, of Kimberling City, MO, Dick Pruett and his wife, Faye Ann, of Wyaconda, MO, Larry Hales and his wife, Marilyn, of Wyaconda, MO; brother-in-law, John Davis Sr of Kahoka, MO; daughter-in-law, Tina Smeltser of Alexandria, MO; sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a step-father, Paul Hales; a daughter, Deborah D. Smeltser; a son, David P. Smeltser; three sisters, Norma Johnson, Carolee Davis, and Pauline Crandal; and a granddaughter, Brittney G. Garner.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 9, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. in the Frazee Cemetery in Alexandria with Pastor Craig Burton officiating. There will be no visitation.
