Michael E. Barry
Michael Eugene Barry, age 45, of Titusville, FL, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2005 in Vero Beach, FL.
He was born January 31, 1960 in Quincy, IL, the son of Arthur and Marilyn Egley Barry.
Survivors include his parents, Arthur and Marilyn Barry, of Titusville, FL; his grand-
mother, Marguerite Barry of Kahoka, MO; one brother, David Barry of Holly Hill, FL; a sister,Donna Davis and her husband, Jeff, of Fenton, MO; a niece, Alexandra "Alex"; nephews, Barry, Aaron and Kevin; aunts and uncles: Margaret and Max Byer of Kahoka, MO, Betty and Tom Logsdon of Kahoka, MO, Dean and Jan Barry of Clark, MO, Donnie and Janice Barry of Wayland, MO, Ronnie and Nancy Barry of Canton, MO, Floyd and April Barry of Concho, AZ, Vernon and Carol Barry of Davenport, IA, Dorothy and Dean Hunziker of Kahoka, MO, John and Sharon Barry of Keokuk, IA, Barbara and Wesley Parrish of Kahoka MO, Connie and Gary Watson of Farmington, MO, and Tee and Bob Higgins of Broken Arrow, OK; as well as many cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Harold "Pops" Barry and maternal grandparents, George and Ruby Egley.
Michael was a 1978 graduate of Clark County R-1 High School and received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He went on to get his Masters from the National College of Education at Evanston, IL.
He began his teaching career at a Montessori school and focused on related areas at Kohl Teacher Center at Willamette, public and private schools, and Disney World.
Michael enjoyed the arts, traveling, teaching, and raising plants. He was also an
active community leader, recognized for his service including Poverello in Fort Lauderdale, Hope and Help in Winter Park, Project Response in Melbourne and Give Kids the World in Kissimee. Michael was also a strong advocate of Aids and Cancer Research and was working on a website in which the proceeds of his artwork would be used to assist in the cause.
Services will be held Saturday, August 13, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Beach Funeral Home West Chapel in Melbourne, FL. A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 21, 2005 at 1:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. John Batchelor and Rev. Deborah Schmidt officiating. Internment will be in Frazee Cemetery. Following burial, family will receive friends at a luncheon at the Wayland United Methodist Church.
Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Clark
Co. Local Cancer Fund.
