Michael "Pickles" Wood, 59, of Kahoka, passed away peacefully at 7:02 pm on Sunday, September 3, 2023, at his residence, surrounded by friends.
He was born on April 21, 1964, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Buddy (Louise) Wood & the late Shirley (Campbell) Lloyd. Michael was married to Christina (Zinnert) Tucker and to this union two children were born; Wesley & Leah.
After high school, Michael attained a certificate in the field of auto body repair. He had also worked as a welder for several years. Most recently, Michael was employed by Trump Truck’s Incorporated in Kahoka. He enjoyed many outdoor activities including; arrowhead hunting, rock & geode collecting, camping, fishing, playing a few rounds of golf, and having BBQ’s and drinks with family and friends. Michael was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Kahoka, where he enjoyed helping out with the church fish fries. In his younger days, he enjoyed playing baseball & basketball. Michael liked to tinker and work on things and would often fix things for friends and neighbors. He liked to help others whenever he could. He also took multiple trips to Montana with his friends to go and visit other friends. He had a big heart for people, and loved everyone he knew or met.
In addition to his father and stepmother; Buddy & Louise Wood of Kahoka, Michael is survived by his son; Wesley Wood of Kahoka, Leah (Tanner Ramsey) Wood of Kahoka, a stepson; Christopher (Shannon) Zinnert of Macon, Georgia, one grandson; Fishor Wilson of Kahoka, a brother; Robin Wood of Keokuk, Iowa, an uncle; Bill (Ruth Ann) Wood of Kearney, nephews; Brandon Wood, Heath Wood, nieces; Lana Wood, Jaelyn White & Ada Wood, cousins; Stephanie Pace, Jordan, Dylan & Nicholas Norton, Sam, Andrew & Mandy Mitchell and Sara Bibby.
Besides his mother, Michael was preceded in death by a brother; James Wood, his grandparents; Howard & Ada Campbell, Frank & Viola Wood, a cousin, Sally Parr and by his aunt; Linda Mitchell.
A Celebration honoring Michael’s life will be conducted on Saturday, September 9, 2023 between 12:00pm and 6:00pm with a eulogy at 1:00 pm at The Battle of Athens State Park, 12378 Athens State Park, Revere, Missouri . Memorial contributions in memory of Michael are suggested to the family. The Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home of Kahoka has been entrusted with the care and arrangements.
