MILES O. SEDERBURG
Miles Owen Sederburg, age 90, of rural Mt. Sterling, IA passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at his son's home in rural Mt. Sterling.
Miles was born July 30, 1923 in Red Oak, IA, the son of Harry and Mae Haymaker Sederburg.
He married Margaret Elgeva Dean on October 17, 1945 at Iowa City, IA. They had celebrated 62 years of marriage upon her death on January 12, 2008.
Survivors include one son, Donald (Mary) Sederburg of Mt. Sterling, IA; five daughters, Dorothy (Jim) Waterman of Arbela, Betty (Ed) Drillon of Luray, Milia Sue (Gary) Boatman of Arbela, Milinda Barber of Keosauqua, and Brenda (Brad) Roush of Mt. Sterling; seventeen grandchildren: Leslie Waterman of Donnellson, Lorie Schantz of Luray, Lesa Koellner of Milton, Lonnie Waterman of Arbela, Elizabeth Whitlock of Muscatine, Alan Sederburg of Mt. Sterling, Emily Craig of Mt. Sterling, Becky Burr of Luray, Renee Kirchner of Luray, Ryan Drillon of Arbela, Miles Boatman of Panora, IA, Mathew Boatman of Canton, Michael Boatman of Bonaparte, Margi Cooper of Keosauqua, Kilbourne Barber of Keosauqua and Thadd Roush and Tyler Roush, both of Mt. Sterling; twenty-three great grandchildren and one due in March, 2014; one brother, Marvin Sederburg of Luray; sisters-in-law: Kathryn (John)Houston of Kahoka, Pauline Cordray of Luray, Darlene Dean of Keosauqua, and Mary Jo Dean (Topper) Howell of Whitefish, MT; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his father, Harry Sederburg; mother, Mae Driscoll; step-father, John Driscoll; and grandson, Adam Dean Sederburg.
Miles was a life-long farmer. He and Margaret lived north of Luray for 62 years in the home they built. Together he and Margaret operated their farming operation, raised livestock, and nurtured their six children. He retired from Sheller Globe in Keokuk. He also raised registered dogs for many years.
They raised their family with plenty of love and happiness and each one knew that as a family they needed each other. He and Margaret were truly happy when surrounded by their children and grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Tom Lemons officiating. Burial followed in the Combs Cemetery at Luray.
