MILLIE L. DOOD PHILLIPS

Millie Leona Dood Phillips, age 87, of Dallas City, IL, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at her daughter's home in Dallas City, following a battle with lung cancer.

Millie was born June 29, 1924 at Alexandria, MO, a daughter of Ed and Georgia Velma Logue Brooks.

She was married to Raymond A. Phillips and to this union her four children were born.

Survivors include her son, Danny Phillips of Coldwater, MS; three daughters, Sharon (Mrs. Don) Huffman of Dallas City, IL, Brenda Bea Windsor of Dallas City, IL and Teresa Phillips of Kirksville, MO; a sister-in-law, Leta Belle Brooks of Kahoka, MO; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Ferrell and Albert Boots Brooks; two sisters, Viola Wilson and Della O'Day; and two granddaughters, Leahcin Hoyt and Leona Russell.

Millie attended school in Alexandria. She was a waitress most of her life with her last restaurant being at the Missouri Territory at Wayland and Hannibal. She was a retired employee of the Wayland Special Road District, working on the toll bridge at St. Francisville. Millie was also a member of the Moose Lodge.

She volunteered as a meals for wheels driver in Clark County for four years. Millie loved to garden, play cards and cribbage and sing Karaoke. She was the oldest Karaoke singer in Dallas City and was able to last sing in April. She was blessed to be able to spend this last chapter of her life close to her family and receive and share each other's love.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Ruth Higgins providing words of comfort. Burial was in the Sand Cemetery at St. Francisville.

Memorials were suggested to Blessing Hospice, Hancock County.
