NOVA FERN PETERSEN

Nova Fern Petersen, age 90, of Kahoka, MO, died on Wednesday, November 24, 2004 in the Keokuk Area Hospital at Keokuk, IA.

She was born September 4, 1914 in Revere, MO, the daughter of Lowell Emerson and Mae Colter Van Fossen. She married Joseph Frank Wierschem on May 29, 1951 in Burlington, IA. He preceded her in death on December 29, 1961. She then married John Henry Petersen in Wyoming, IA in June of 1963. The marriage ended in 1969.

She is survived by her brother, George Russell Van Fossen of Kahoka, MO and one first cousin, Jacob Robert Colter and his wife, Loreta, of St. Louis, MO, other cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; her parents; and two first cousins, Roberta Maxine (Van Fossen) Richardson, and Ronald Milton Colter.

Nova was a 1932 graduate of Revere High School and attended Gem City Business College in Quincy. She was last employed by the First National Bank of Rock Island, IL, and retired from the bank in 1980. She was an active member of the Kahoka Christian Church until her health failed in 1998. She had been a member of the 50-50 Sunday School Class and Christian Women's Fellowship. She was a member of Kahoka Chapter # 40 of the Eastern Star, and the Senior Tuesday Club.

Funeral services are Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Dick Clifford officiating.

Burial will be in Kahoka Cemetery.

Friends can call after 1 p.m. on Friday at Wilson Funeral Home with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Kahoka Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
