ORPHA I. McPHERSON
Orpha I. McPherson, age 87, of Kahoka, MO, died Friday, August 8, 2008, at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.
She was born May 13, 1921 at St. Francisville, MO, one of three daughters of Roscoe and Irene Brown Wilsey.
She married Robert E. McPherson on October 6, 1974. He preceded her in death on July 3, 2004.
Survivors include a son, Robert Hardman, of Wayland, MO; a step-son, Roger McPherson and his wife, Connie, of Muscatine, IA; two grandchildren, Heather Luft of Keokuk, IA and Christina Hardman-Long of Quincy, IL; four great-grandchildren: Kinzie Luft, Wyatt Handyside, and Trinity and Nevaeh Hardman-Long; two step-grandchildren, Andrew McPherson and his wife, Seana, of Mt. Prospect, IL and Claire Lundburg and her husband, Brett, of Oakdale, MN; three step-great grandchildren, Natalie and Megan McPherson and Ian Lundburg; a sister, Alta Wilsey of Kahoka, MO; two nieces, Irene and Randy Fish of Kahoka, MO and Sandra and Tom Hansen of Warsaw, IL; a great-nephew, Jim and Kathy Wells of Kahoka, MO; and a great-great nephew, Quentin Wells of Kahoka, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Maxine Klingebiel and her husband, Chuck.
Orpha graduated from Wayland High School and spent her life as a homemaker. She married Robert later in life and together they grew a huge garden and enjoyed sharing its bounty with others. They attended the Kahoka United Methodist Church and the Clark Co. Historical Society. Orpha enjoyed volunteering at the Clark Co. Nursing Home and visiting with neighbors at the Kahoka Senior Housing. She loved to read her Bible, spend time with friends and family, and listen to Bob's stories. She was a wonderful cook and made the best noodles, apple pie and angel food cake in the world. She was blessed with a wonderful family and an extended family through her marriage to Bob.
Funeral services were held Sunday, August 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Barb Hagerla officiating. Burial was in Sand Cemetery at St. Francisville.
Memorials are suggested to the Kahoka United Methodist Church.
