Paula was born October 1, 1959 at San Bernardino, CA, a daughter of Floyd A. and Margie Lee Jessup Bishop.

She was married to William Appel and they were the parents of two sons, Luke and Travis. She married Tom D. Hopper, the love of her life, on June 4, 1988 who raised her sons as though they were his own.

Survivors include her husband, Tom "Dewayne" Hopper; her mother, Margie Lee Bishop; and mother-in-law, Barbara Gray, all of Wayland; two sons, Luke (Carrie) Appel of Hawk Point, MO, and Travis (Marie) Appel of Mechanicsville, IA; step-daughter, Betty Hansen of Muskogee, OK; four grandchildren: Paige and Peyton Appel and Brody and Brayden Hansen; two brothers, Ricky (Terry) Bishop and William (Shelly) Bishop, all of Topock, AZ; three sisters, Linda Smith of Wayland, Barbara (Mrs. Steven) Gates of Topock, AZ and Becky Ketchum of Vermont; a nephew, Jim (Lori) Bishop of Jefferson City, MO, who was raised with her as a brother; brothers and sisters-in-law: Darla Hopper of Fresno, CA, Teresa Hopper of Elko, NV, Sherry (Mrs. Mike) McDowell of Shenadoah, IA, Carrie Brooms and Crystal Brooms, both of Mt. She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Bishop; and brother-in-law, Sam Smith.

Paula graduated from high school in San Bernardino, CA. She had spent time working in the retail industry. Her main occupation was as a horse trainer which is what she dearly loved doing. She was also an advocate for abused animals. Paula was passionate about everything she pursued, which also included her faith and the hours spent reading her Bible. She was a fan of Joyce Meyer Ministry.

She enjoyed her morning coffee and visits that went along with it. She and Tom loved to go dancing and camping. They had recently had two vacations, one visiting with Paige and Peyton and the other with Brody and Brayden. The evenings spent cuddling with them was very special to her. Paula had a very fulfilling life, being content with what she had, never asking for more. She received great joy from buying gifts for needy children at Christmas rather than receiving for herself. She was a nurturer and made sure everyone else was taken care of. She was the center point and glue of her family and extended family.
