RANDY E. YATES
Randy E. Yates, age 30, of Wyaconda, MO, died on Saturday, June 11, 2016 in the emergency room of Scotland County Memorial Hospital following a motorcycle/farm equipment accident near Wyaconda.
Randy was born August 20, 1985 in Keokuk, IA, a son of Kevin and Helen Tucker Yates.
On October 15, 2011 he was united in marriage to Lakin L. Sturm near Revere at Sweet Home. To this union two children were born, Ryleigh and Raelynn.
Survivors include his wife, Lakin, of Wyaconda; three children: Remington Yates of Columbia, MO, and Ryleigh and Raelynn Yates of Wyaconda; his parents: Kevin (Terrisa) Yates of Revere and Helen Hayes of Wyaconda; his in-laws, Sabrina (Doug) Smeltser of Wayland; grandparents: Gene (Linda) Yates of Revere, Joanne Shaw of Kahoka, Goldie (Bud) Laymon of Revere, John Tucker of Alexandria; grandparents in-law, Cindy Fields of Wayland and Brenda Sturm of Ainsworth, IA; brothers and sisters: Christina (Mikele) Farmer of Revere, Austin Ball and fiancé Randi Barker of Wayland, Matthew (Brandy) Kelley of Hamilton, Dwaine (Jamee) Kelley of Medill and Trisha (Bronson) Worrell of Kahoka; brothers and sisters-in-law: Colten Sturm of Wayland, Erica Sturm of Keokuk, Markie Ash of Wayland, Gordon Smeltser of Quincy, David Smeltser and Logan Smeltser both of Wayland, and Brandy Boecker of St. Francisville; best friends, Mike Smith of Kahoka, Craig Ott of Williamstown, and Jeff Ludwig of Wayland; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Helen Tucker and Mike Shaw; uncles Randy Eugene Yates and Matt Wilson; and aunt, Gina Yates Wagner.
Randy attended Revere High School and was a certified master welder and crane operator. He was a former employee of Caldwell Tank, Inc. which required him to travel and spend time away from his family. He was currently employed by Gregory Container in Kahoka which allowed him to be with his family whom he loved so much.
He was a baptized member of the Peaksville Christian Church where members of his family have attended for many years.
Randy was a true outdoorsman and an avid hunter and fisherman. His true passion was working on his motorcycle and riding with Lakin and his Tunnel Rats M.C. brothers and sisters. He was actively involved in the Rust Revivals held at Wayland. He touched the lives of those he met and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He had a deep love for his siblings, extended family, and friends and spending time with them was very important to him. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family dearly and put their needs ahead of his own.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Shawn McAfee and Pastor Andy Bunnell officiating. Recorded usi election included: "Here For A Good Time", "High Cost Of Living", "Hunting, Fishing, Loving Everyday", "Country Boy" and "The Forgotten One". Inurnment was in the Kahoka Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were: Austin Ball, Craig Ott, Jeff Ludwig, Mike Smith, Shane Hudnut, Pete Van Beek ad Doug Smeltser.
Friends called at Wilson Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Tuesday with family receiving friends from 5-8 p.m. Cremation followed.
Memorials in lieu of flowers were suggested to his wife, Lakin.
