RAYMOND D BRISCOE

Raymond D Briscoe, age 84, of Williamstown, MO, died Tuesday, August 15, 2006 at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.

He was born May 12, 1922 in Clark County near Williamstown, MO, a son of Robert D. and Mabel Raine Briscoe.

He married Esther E. Welker on November 4, 1946 at her parent's home near Williamstown.

Survivors include his wife, Esther, of Williamstown, MO; four sons: Charlie and his wife, Carol, of Williamstown, MO, Phillip and his wife, Connie, of Grand Prairie, TX, Randall and his wife, Pam of Williamstown, MO and Kirk and his wife, Doris, of Williamstown, MO; one daughter, Carolyn Ellison and her husband, Bill, of Kahoka, MO; a brother, Norman Briscoe and his wife, Janice, of Williamstown, MO; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Jeanette Briscoe of Kahoka, MO, Margaret Briscoe of Gladstone, IL, Vera Brookhart of Kahoka, MO, and, Vernon Welker of Keokuk, IA; 18 grandchildren: Mike Ellison, Lisa Anderson, Beth Ellison, Kim Kucera, Chad Briscoe, Clint Briscoe, Heather Briscoe, Micah Magnuson, Selah Thalken, Hannah Briscoe, Kendra Briscoe, Deborah Briscoe, Brandon Briscoe, Rocky Briscoe, Candice Briscoe, Jennifer Briscoe and Shannon Damm; 11 great-grandchildren: Ty, Ashley, Zach, Myra, Tanner, Jordan, Cody, Chelsea, Tanner, Carter, and Gavyn; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Wayne D. and Robert S. Briscoe.

Raymond graduated from Ballard High School and served in the U. S. Army in central Europe during World War II. He returned to the Williamstown area where he farmed all of his life until retiring several years ago. He was also superintendent of the Clark County Public Water District No. 1 from 1978 until 1990 and Williamstown Fire Chief from 1980 until 1990.

When his boys were growing up, Raymond coached a lot of baseball teams in Williamstown. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and coon hunting. More than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Funeral services are Saturday, August 19, 2006 at 1:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with burial and military rites following in the LaBelle Cemetery.

Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Williamstown Volunteer Fire Department.
