RICHARD L. "DICK" SISSON

Richard L. "Dick" Sisson, age 78 of Kahoka, MO, died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at his home.

He was born December 17, 1925 in Luray, MO, a son of Lawrence L. and Marie Hutson Sisson.

On September 8, 1946, he was united in marriage to Annetta M. Murray at her parent's home in rural Kahoka.

Survivors include his wife, Annetta, of Kahoka, MO; three daughters, Dixie Fisher, Barbara Sisson, and Janice Davis and her husband, Ted, all of Modesto, CA: two grandchildren, Alec and Alainna Davis of Modesto, CA; a special friend who was like a granddaughter to him, Miriam Suter of Wyaconda, MO;sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Imogene and Robert Heidbreder of Fort Madison, IA and Gail Ludwick of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mildred Roberts and Lavaughan "Bonnie" Spowart.

Dick attended school in Luray, MO. He became a Christian as a young man, was baptized and became a member of the Luray Baptist Church. He was a Deacon and had served as Sunday School Supt. and teacher for many years. He had also served as a trustee for Camp Leeper. Following his baptism, he became a member of the Luray Baptist Church. In 1983 he transferred his membership to First Baptist Church in Kahoka and later to Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka.

A welder by trade, he was a retired 29 year employee of Kast Metals Corp. where he was recognized for 25 years of service and was a member of the Silver K Club. He was a former member of the Luray Elementary School Board, had served on the Luray Ballpark Committee and on the C.A.R.E. Board. As long as his health permitted, he was active in Habitat for Humanity and had helped build the first home in Kahoka. He was also a former 4-H leader.

A World War II veteran, Dick had attained the rank of Corporal when he was discharged in May of 1946.

Dick was active in church and community and will be remembered for his loving and caring disposition. He enjoyed woodworking and making hand loomed rugs. For eleven years he had kept a weather gauge for the U. S. Weather Service.

Funeral services are Sunday, February 22, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka with Rev. Steve Wukmer officiating. Burial will be in Combs Cemetery at Luray, MO.

Visitation will be held after 10 a.m. on Saturday at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials in lieu of flowers are suggested to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, C.A.R.E., or Combs Cemetery.
