Robert Clifton

Robert “Bobby” Melvin Clifton, 83, of Wyaconda, passed away at 7:40pm on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Scotland County Hospital, in Memphis, Missouri. Bobby Clifton was born to Phylis Irene Clifton (Haddix) and Robert A. Clifton in Luray, Missouri on May 28, 1941.

Bobby married his sweetheart, Jane Ann Hauptmann on March 3, 1961, in Lathrop, Missouri. The two met in grade school and were married for 57 years at the time of Jane Ann’s passing on August 31, 2018.

Bobby lived his entire life as a farmer, farming the same land in his adult years that he helped his own grandparents farm as a young boy. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed hunting with his son and brother-in-law in years past. Bobby was a no-nonsense, stubborn farm boy at his core, but under that rough exterior he was kind and generous to his community. Bobby served on the board for Fairmont Cemetery for many years and regularly helped in fund raising to support the cemetery and its needs.

He is survived by his son, John David Clifton; two sisters Marjorie (Rodney) Heelan of Gladstone, MO and Terry Triplett of Carl Junction, MO; nieces and nephews and their families: Brad (Carrie) Hauptmann of Peculiar, MO, Buffey Hauptmann of Lee’s Summit, MO, Bobbi (Mike) Hauptmann-French of Fredericksburg, VA, Joshua (Carolyn) Hauptmann of Hallsville, MO, Teresa (John) Tanner of Kansas City, MO, Matthew (Jodie) Heelan of Shawnee, KS, and Craig, Curt, and Chris (Patty) Triplett of the Joplin, MO area; as well as other relatives.

He was proceeded in death by his wife, Jane Ann Clifton; a son, Robert “Jamie” James Clifton; his parents Phylis and Robert Clifton; a brother Kenneth Clifton; a brother-in-law Gail Triplett, and brother in-law and sister in-law: John (Karen) Hauptmann.

Funeral services for Robert “Bobby” Clifton will be held Monday, February 24, 2025, at 11:00 am at Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home, Kahoka, MO with burial at the Fairmont Cemetery, Wyaconda, MO. Pastor Paul Harvey will officiate. Visitation with family present will be held at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home, Monday, February 24, 2025, from 10:00 am until time of service at 11:00 am. Memorials in memory of Robert “Bobby” Clifton are suggested to the Fairmont Cemetery.
