Robert "Bob" Elton Walker, 85, formerly of Kahoka, Missouri, passed away at 2:18am on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at his home in Warrensburg, Missouri with his family by his side.

God brought Robert into this world on June 9, 1939, to Cecil and Martha (Brewer) Walker in Peaksville, Missouri. He spent his entire childhood there, playing sports during his high school years where he enjoyed baseball and excelled at basketball. He joined the Army Reserves at 17 looking for adventure and a way to support his family. This was the beginning of his life of military service to his country, his community, and his family. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen Joyce Mohr, on November 30, 1956. They lived happily together for 64 years until her death in Warrensburg, Missouri on November 4, 2020.

In May of 1957, Bob graduated from high school and went on active duty in the Army. He and Karen welcomed their daughter, Rhonda Joyce, on May 30th of that year and then he shipped out the first week of June for basic training and eventually on to training in the Signal Corps. He served there in Korea for his first 2 years, and then went into the Medical Corps where he was to spend the rest of his service until his honorable discharge in January of 1969. Those years saw stationing at Fort Sam, in Houston, Texas, Sandie Base Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Neubrucke, in Germany. His final station was at Fort Belvoir, Alexandria, Virginia.

Bob and Karen returned to Kahoka in 1974 where they purchased a home and a trailer park. Together, they ran a pool hall purchased in 1978 until 1981. Always a sport lover, Bob coached 12–14-year-olds and eventually went on to a hard-won victory to 1st place one rainy night in Clark County. When they sold that business, Bob began his career as a community servant. He served as Alderman on the City Council and made a bid for a County Commissioner. He served with the Salvation Army and FEMA Disaster Relief. He worked with John Moon to bring Drug Court to Clark County and was instrumental in building the new jail. He served Clark County off and on for 20 years in the Sheriff’s Department as a Communications Officer, Jailer, Deputy, and as the Coordinator for the Domestic Violence Against Women Court Advocate. Bob was an active participant in the American Legion. After Bob and Karen closed their home in Kahoka, and moved to Warrensburg, Bob continued as an active member.

This was Bob’s 85-year-old life. He was, however, more than an important than his service in the Army and in his community; he was, foremost, a loving member of a large, happy family. He and Karen took care of their aging parents, raised a beautiful daughter, Rhonda, and were thrilled and proud grandparents to her 3 children: Sarah, Robbie, and Marie. Bob and Karen’s legacy also included their role as great-grandparents of Isobel, Joshua, Cayden, Javon, and Yazmine. He had an abundance of love for all of them and love to spare. After Karen’s death, he continued to share his love and life with long-time friend, Patti McAfee. Bob enjoyed playing cards, collecting coins, doing number and word puzzles, listening to country music, and watching the birds at the feeders. He leaves behind members of the Walker, Mohr, and Frazelle Families, his own immediate family, and friends too numerous to list. He made all of us feel as if we were one of his favorites. Bob will be so missed, but we are all happy he is with God, in whom he trusted his entire life.
