ROY EDWARD "EDDIE" BREWER
Roy Edward "Eddie" Brewer, age 66, of rural Kahoka, MO, died early Wednesday
morning, April 19, 2006 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born January 18, 1940 on a farm northeast of Wayland, MO, a son of Clarence and Lela Courtney Brewer. He was married to Bonnie R. Whitehead on October 7, 1961 at Wyaconda, MO, and she truly was the love of his life for the past 44 + years.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie, of rural Kahoka, MO; four daughters: Tina Nixon and Kevin of Revere, MO, Teresa Carter and Jeff of Quincy, IL, Tonya Arnold and Brett of Keokuk, IA and Alexandria, MO, and, Terri Williams and John of Kahoka, MO; thirteen grandchildren:Matt and Amanda Nixon, Charles, Keith and Nathan Long, Ashley, Sarah and Olivia Carter, Leah, Rachel and Hanna Arnold, and Seth and Shannen Williams; mother-in-law, Velma Whitehead of Deming, NM; a brother, Albert Brewer of Kahoka, MO; a sister, Ozelma Shoup of Kahoka, MO; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert and Vivian Whitehead of Wyaconda, MO and Barbara Whitehead of Dixon, IL; his nieces and nephews: Danny and Kris Shoup, Gene Tanner, Patty and Bill Gastorf, Judy and Keith Wheeler, Linda and Bobby Plenge, and, Joan and Rex Roller and their families; also, Bonnie's nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister and her husband , Lois and George Tanner; nephews, Stanton and Gary Tanner; brother-in-law, Charlie Shoup; and, sister-in-law,
Betty Sedillo.
"Eddie" graduated from Kahoka High School in 1958. He served in the National Guard until 1961 and then worked for the State Highway Department for several years, spending the rest of his life farming southwest of Kahoka. In November of 1986, he was elected as a Western District Commissioner of Clark County, MO, and served in that capacity until being elected as Presiding Commissioner in 1994. He felt a deep love and responsibility to his job, the citizens of the county, and those he worked with on a daily basis. His faith in God heightened his stewardship of his farm and his great love for his family.
He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka. He had served on
committees in the community and on various boards connected with his job as commissioner. He loved to read, particularly westerns, and enjoyed watching western movies. He enjoyed deer hunting and fishing and loved to watch his grandchildren at play. He was also honorary grandpa to many children who attended his daughter's day care through the past several years.
Funeral services are Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Kahoka with Rev. Kenneth Beckmann officiating and Rev. Tim White, eulogist.
Burial will follow in Kahoka Cemetery.
Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials in his honor are suggested to the H. E. Sever Memorial Library.
