SAMMY M. ARNOLD

Sammy M. Arnold, of rural Kahoka, MO, (Chambersburg) passed away at his home on Sunday, January 20, 2008, at the age of 92 years and 10 months.

Born on March 8, 1915, in Clark County, MO, Sammy was the son of Samuel E. Arnold, Sr. and Julia Gehn Arnold.

Sammy was united in marriage to Della M. O'Day on December 24, 1938. They were the parents of one daughter, Reva J. Arnold, of Lynchburg, VA, who returned to her parents home in the spring of 2007 to care for her father.

Sammy lived all of his life in Clark County engaged in farming. In his school years, he and his brother milked cows, bottled the milk, and delivered to homes in Kahoka. As a little boy, Sammy's father was Sheriff of Clark County for two terms and his mother cooked hot meals for the prisoners. Sammy began farming with his father and it has always been his life's passion along with raising livestock, especially the 20 years Reva worked alongside him. Sammy enjoyed people and laughter. He attended Chambersburg Church for several years then was committed in his faith to First Baptist Church of Wayland, MO. He has treasured lifetime friendships of many members there as well as three great pastors Gene Spurgeon, Eddie Rape and Pastor Dan Deatrick.

Survivors include his wife, Della and daughter, Reva, both of Kahoka; brother-in-law, Andy O'Day of Wayland; and sisters-in-law, Thelma O'Day of Kahoka and Mary Mertz of Lutz, FL; as well as nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Roscoe Arnold; and three sisters, Bernice Neuendorf, Georgie Nichols, and Mary Jenkins.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 23, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home with private burial following in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the family or the First Baptist Church at Wayland.
