SAMMY D. BOGENER

Sammy D. Bogener, age 73, of Kahoka, MO, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 in the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, IA.

Sam was born January 4, 1946 in Keokuk, IA, the only child of Richard M. "Jack" and Lola Belle Fish Bogener.

On August 26, 1972 he was united in marriage to Judy A. Morgan in the Kahoka Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Judy, of the home; one daughter, Erica (Mike) Holtzman of Waverly, IA; one granddaughter, Cassidy Morgan Brand of Waverly, IA; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: J. W. (Cheryl) Morgan of Williamstown, Dennis Morgan of Kahoka and Donna (Wayne) Laubersheimer of Keokuk; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister-in-law, Judi Morgan; and two uncles, Earl and Freed Fish.

Sam graduated from Kahoka High School in 1964. He served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam and was a member of Ayer-Boatman Post # 4342, V.F.W.

Sam was a self employed mechanic at "Sam’s Garage" and specialized in exhaust systems. He loved working on his hot rods and participating in and attending car shows. He and Judy were well-known driving around town in his yellow car.

Sam loved the St. Louis Cardinals, visiting with friends at the coffee shop, and following the Clark County Indians. He especially loved to golf and was fortunate to have golfed with several generations of the same families. He especially loved his family. Sam was a kind and humble man and slow to anger. His smile will be remembered by many.

Funeral services and Military Rites were held Monday, July 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Kim McNamar officiating.

Burial followed in the Kahoka Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
