Sandra Sue "Suzy" Hagmeier, 65, Quincy, died peacefully at 7:45p.m. Friday, (February 1st, 2013) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL after a long bout of complex medical illnesses.
She was born Sept 23rd, 1947, in Keokuk, IA, a twin daughter of Glen Martin Crockett and Dorothy Melrose (nee Gross) Crockett.
She first married Darrel Killebrew of Durham, MO in 1969. In 1971, a son, Michael was born in Kirksville, MO. He survives. She later married William "Bill" Hagmeier of Keokuk, IA in 1977.
Mrs. Hagmeier leaves behind a life full of experiences:
She grew up in Kahoka, Missouri where she attended grade school and graduated from Kahoka High School in 1965. She later attended college at Northeast Missouri State University and later moved to New Jersey, Nevada, Iowa, Kahoka, Mo, Canton, MO and most recently Quincy, IL since 2003.
Her real passion in life was nursing. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse at Hannibal - LaGrange in Hannibal and later a Registered Nurse at Southeast Iowa Community College in Keokuk, IA. She had an opportunity to work at many nursing homes and hospitals throughout the area during her career from which she developed many lasting friendships. Beyond, nursing she was known for being generous and having a big heart. She "adopted" many families and children giving presents to them during birthdays and Christmas over the years. She also was a very good cook delighting her self and others in grilling and baking an assortment of treats. She had a lifelong love of travel and enjoyed many trips and vacations that took her to many US states at one time or another. Above all she was a devoted mother who encouraged her son to try many things and have many positive experiences growing up.
She is survived by a son, Michael Killebrew and his wife, Evangeline Navora-Killebrew, three grandchildren, Nathaniel Michael Killebrew, Cana Mae Killebrew, and Carmela Marie Navora Killebrew all of Durham, MO, 4 sisters, Patsy (Max) Mitchell of Homer, AK, Glenda (John) Gamby of Chadron, NE, Linda (Al) Nagy of The Villages, FL, Betty (Mark) Stuart of Columbia, Mo, 2 brothers, Guy Crockett of Columbia, MO and George Crockett of Kahoka, MO, and 7 nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded by her late husband and her parents.
Services will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday in the Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka, MO with the Pastor Ray Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in the Kahoka Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to her grandchildren's college fund.
