SANDRA A. RINGENBERG
Sandra A. Ringenberg, age 65, of Kahoka, MO, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka after a battle with cancer.
Sandra was born March 24, 1948 in Kahoka, MO, a daughter of Victor E. and Mary Dorine Briley Young.
She was married to Mr. William Carroll Ringenberg on December 25, 1976 at the Trinity Faith Chapel in Kahoka.
Survivors include her husband, William, of the home; a step-son, Kevin (Jean) Ringbenberg of IL; a foster grandchild, Natasha Miller and her son, Daylin, of Quincy; one brother, William (Brenda) Young of Kahoka; seven sisters: Joan (Bill) Hayden, Vickie (Donnie) Burks, Ruby "Dodie" Simmons, Evelyn O’Day, Ava Carter and Dianna Sommers (Steve) Toben, all of Kahoka and Rita (Vaughn) Barry of Alexandria; aunts and uncles: Kathryn Jarvis of Quincy, Mary Davison of San Dimas, CA, Irene Davison of Musctaine, IA, Phyllis (Edgar) Shoup of Hogansville, GA, Meleese Young of Kahoka and April Feller of Louisiana, Chris Briley of Wyoming and Robert Briley of LA; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor E. Young and Mary Young Helm; step-fathers, Clifton Helm and Richard Gregory; two brothers, Victory Young, Jr. and Samuel Eugene Robison; two brothers-in-law, Garry Simmons and Floyd Sommers; and a nephew, Larry Hayden.
Sandra attended Kahoka High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Kahoka and a Charter member of the V.F.W. Auxilliary.
She worked all of her life as a caretaker, providing health services, feeding, and caring for patients in nursing homes in the area. She was the second oldest of eleven siblings and loved each one of them and their families. She enjoyed crafts and crocheting. She especially loved being outdoors, growing flowers, fishing, "mushrooming", and being around animals.
Funeral services and V.F.W. Auxiliary Services were held Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 10 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka. Officiating at the funeral service was Rev. Rob Quillin officiating. Burial followed in the Keokuk National Cemetery.
Family received friends from 9 a.m. Thursday until time of services at Wilson Funeral Home.
