Steven Buschling

Steven Mathew Buschling, 68, of Canton, MO passed away peacefully at 9:29 pm on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at Boone County Hospital in Columbia, MO, surrounded by his family.   

Steven was born on September 29, 1954, to Allen and Nettie (Fishback) Buschling.  He graduated from Clark County High School in 1972 and married Julia Rose in 1976.  Julia preceded him in death on March 27, 2015.  

Steven was an avid photographer, enjoyed riding four wheelers and was a race car enthusiast. He raced RC cars for a time and was proud of his Off-Road Missouri Champion title.  He loved playing cards with his family, especially Euchre. He loved his grandchildren, and they knew it. From airing up the old bike tires, playing Sorry and UNO, to putting up pools so that they could enjoy a swim in the summer, the girls could do no wrong. Disney movies, soda, and junk food, they loved their time together at Papa’s. Steven was truly a quiet, loving person that was content with his simple life of drinking Pepsi and smoking a cigarette.  He was humble and shy.  Steven had a mind for carpentry, mechanics, and farming.   

Steven is survived by his loving children; daughter; Heather (Jeff) Brand of Chillicothe, IL, son; Joshua Buschling of Keokuk, IA, grandchildren; Gabrielle Buschling, Madison Buschling, Jaxson Buschling, Isabel Brand, and Annette Brand, brother; William Buschling of Kansas City, MO, and sister; Michele (Garyl) Meinhardt of Kahoka, MO, and several nieces and nephews. 

Memorial Services honoring Steven’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, July 7, 2023, at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home of Kahoka. Visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Steven are suggested to the family.
