SUSAN BALLEW
Susan Ballew, age 55, of Kahoka, MO, formerly of Omaha and Grand Island, NE, passed away on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at her home in Kahoka following a lengthy illness.
She was born January 27, 1949 at Ladysmith, WI, a daughter of Frank and Susan M. Stevens Crabb. Her parents died when she was an infant and she was raised by her grandmother who preceded her in death.
She had been married to Tom Ballew.
Survivors include one son, Travis Ballew and his wife, Amy, of Elwood, NE; one daughter, Laura McCluskey and her husband, Louie, of Luray, MO; six grandchildren: Cody and Kallie Ballew, Ashleigh and Kayla Mitchell, Allan Storm, and Kreed McCluskey; two brothers, George Crabb of California and Jim Crabb of Wisconsin; two sisters, Betty Gulich of Wisconsin and Pauline Smith of California; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Frank, Jr., John, and Joseph Crabb; and a sister, Delores Barfknecht.
Susan had been a civil servant while her husband was stationed in the service in the Phillipines and later worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 18 years until she was no longer able to work due to ill health. She had retired in 1998.
Susan loved to read and was a fan of Lifetime Television. She also loved playing slot machines whenever given the opportunity. She was especially partial to her cat, Spice.
Memorial services were held Friday, June 18, 2004 at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Pastor Mark Boley officiating. Special music was "Mercedes Benz" recorded by Janis Joplin and "Amazing Grace" by Mathew Eder.
There was no visitation.

Inurnment will be in Nebraska at a later date.
