THELMA L. WAPLES

Thelma L. Waples, age 82, of rural Alexandria, MO, died peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at her home surrounded by family and friends.

Thelma was born October 22, 1932 in Meppen, IL, a daughter of Carl and Nellie Bull Fuller.

She attended Monterey Country School until 8th grade, graduating from Hannibal High School in 1950.

On September 14, 1962, she was united in marriage to Chester Glen "C.G." Waples on September 14, 1962 at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk, IA.

Survivors include one son, Justin Glen (Kelly) Waples of Kahoka, MO and their children, Raegan, Conner and Mallory; one daughter, Lynn Waples Kleine and her daughter, Ashley, both of the home; a brother, Ronald (Martha "Susie") Fuller of Quincy, IL; sisters-in-law, Beverly Hasner and Sharon Waples, both of Canton, MO; several nieces and nephews and their families: Kevin (Velvet) Hasner and Sherri (Gary) Hasner, all of Columbia, MO, Jolene (David) Ferguson of Oregon, Janelle Fuller and Donna Fuller, both of Quincy, IL; and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, C.G. "Chet" Waples; an infant daughter, Leah Ann; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Glen and Estella Waples; a brother, William Fuller; brother-in-law, Dennis Hasner; and nephew, C. Jeff Fuller.

Thelma was a life-long bookkeeper, working in both Hannibal and Keokuk, including twenty-eight years for the late Charles O. "Chuck" Frazier, Attorney at Law. She had been a dispatcher for twenty-three years for the Clark Co. Sheriff's Office, some of the earlier years while holding down a full time job with Mr. Frazier.

She was a faithful and active member of the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a 50+ year member of Elmira Chapter Order of the Eastern Star at Keokuk and was a member of the Helping Hands Circle of King's Daughters.
She was a former 4H Leader, a member and treasurer of the Better Home Builders F.C.E. Club, a member of the American Angus Auxiliary and had served on the Clark Co. Nursing Home Board of Directors.

In earlier years, Thelma helped C.G. on the farm and enjoyed going to Farm Shows with him. She was an excellent cook who loved cooking for her family and friends. As long as she could, she enjoyed bowling and golfing. Monthly bridge games were an important part of she and C.G.'s life. In her spare time she enjoyed listening to the Gaithers and watching Wheel of Fortune. She also sat through and tolerated Mizzou games with Lynn. Her most valuable time was spent with her family and friends and attending her grandchildren's activities.

Memorial services were held Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 10 a.m. at Bluff Springs United Methodist Church, rural Canton, MO, with Pastor Barb Hagerla officiating. Inurnment followed in the Frazee Cemetery.

Friends called at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka after 9 a.m. Friday with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m.
