Theodore L. "Ted" Kirchner

Theodore L. "Ted" Kirchner, age 70, of Kahoka, MO, died Friday, November 3, 2017 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Ted was born May 15, 1947 in Keokuk, IA, the son of Howard and Lorene Brisby Kirchner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Leroy "Sonny" Kirchner; and a sister, Pat Brown.

Ted graduated from Kahoka High School in 1965. Following graduation he joined the United States Army. He was a member of the 181st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.

He was employed at Electro Metals and following his discharge from the service he worked as a car salesman, then for J. C. Penney, and then Roquette. Later he went to work for Nixon’s and then Kahoka Motor, both in Kahoka.

On August 19, 1967, he was married to Maxine Heinze and from this union was born one son, Tod L. Kirchner. The past sixteen years he has bravely fought cancer.

Survivors include his son, Tod (Tabitha) Kirchner of Kahoka, and two grandchildren, Jacob Kirchner and Tamera Kirchner, both of Kahoka; one brother, Dick (Charlotte) Kirchner of Kahoka; and a sister-in-law, Linda Kirchner of New London, IA; as well as nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

Ted had many interests - he loved the St. Louis Cardinals, fishing, hunting, playing cards, golfing, and drinking coffee with his many friends. He also liked fast cars. He and his buddies went to southern Missouri every spring for a week long of trout fishing. The same group of buddies and Tod and Jacob went deer hunting in the fall. Ted was a friend to everyone he met.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Dixie Laube officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Paul Cemetery with full military rites.

Friends may call at Wilson Funeral Home after noon on Sunday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.
