THOMAS WILLIAM WEBSTER DAW
Thomas William Webster Daw, age 87, of Kahoka, MO, passed away Thursday, February 22, 2007 at Lexington Square in Keokuk, IA.
A lifelong resident of Clark County, MO, Tom was born June 28, 1919 to Harry S. and Eleanor Murphy Daw. On April 19, 1941, he married Ida Klingebiel and lovingly and tenderly cared for her through many years of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
He graduated from Wayland High School in 1937. After spending most of his life in
retailing, he opened a restoration shop in Wayland. He was known nationally for his expertise in
Model A and Model T Fords and participated in many tours.
He was a 50-year member and Past Master of St. Francisville Lodge # 588, A. F. & A.M.
He was a faithful member of the Wayland United Methodist Church.
Tom loved music and directed church choirs for many years. He was a past president of
Keokuk Men's Glee Club and Quincy S.P.E.B.S.A. and former baritone of the Scrap Iron Four Quartet for 27 years. In earlier years he had sung in the "Men of Note" quartet with Floyd Smeltser and Harold and Dail White. Until entering the nursing home, Tom and his nephew and friends had entertained many times at the Clark Co. Senior Center and various nursing homes and other places in the tri-states. He had a natural talent and was self taught on many instruments He was past president of S.E.I.A.A. Club and ILLIAMO Chapter of M.T.F.C.A. and a member of the Fox River Valley Two-Cylinder Club.
Survivors include a son, Harry Arthur Daw and his wife, Alice, of Troy, MO; two grandsons, Harry Arthur Daw II of O'Fallon, MO and Myron Lloyd Daw and his wife, Aimee, of Troy, MO; four great grandchildren: Austin Thomas, Brendan Allen, Alexis Taylor and Abigail Morgan Daw; two sisters-in-law, Phoebe Daw of Kahoka, MO and Norinne Daw of Rock Island, IL; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife; and, two brothers, John and Harry Daw.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 26, 2007 at 10 a.m. at the Wayland United Methodist Church with Rev. Deborah Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in the Kahoka Cemetery. Weather permitting, he will be transported to the cemetery in his depot hack that he built from scratch.
Visitation will begin on Sunday with a public Masonic Service being conducted at 4:30 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka followed by family receiving friends until 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Wayland United Methodist Church.
