THOMAS J. ROSSI
Thomas J. Rossi, age 94, of Luray, MO, died Saturday, December 21, 2013 at 1:54 a.m. in the Scotland Co. Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO.
Tom was born May 30, 1919 in Keokuk, IA, a son of James Edward and Elizabeth Libush Schools Rossi.
He attended school in both Illinois and Wisconsin. He was a World War II Veteran, serving in the Aleutian Islands and was proud to have traveled on one of the Honor Flights in 2012 to Washington, D.C.
Tom married Arveta "Bea" Forquer and they were the parents of two children, Thomas Eugene and Roger Laverne. He later married Mary Purvis in October of 1955 who preceded him in death in April of 2001. On December 26, 2003 he was united in marriage to Allie McDaniel at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Allie McDaniel Rossi; one son, Roger Laverne Rossi and his wife, Deloris, of Sierra Vista, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Hattie Ross of Amory, MS; one sister, Laura Akers of Keokuk, IA; step children: Danny McDaniel of Luray, Jeannie McDaniel-Eads and her husband, Mike of Moscow Mills, MO, and Connie McDaniel and Ben Miller of Palmyra, MO; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, step and step great grandchildren; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death his parents; his wife, Mary; a son, Thomas Eugene Rossi; and three brothers: George, Charlie, and James "Doug" Rossi.
Tom farmed most of his life, was a carpenter and owned a construction company with his sons. He was a former employee of the former Electro Metals plant in Keokuk. Later in life he was custodian at Clark Co. R-1 schools and then the Clark Co. Jail. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka, a Master Gardner, and a member of the local garden club. He always had a love for horses and always had a desire to live on water.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bible Baptist Church in Kahoka with Pastor Glen Yoder officiating. Interment was in the Sand Cemetery at St. Francisville.
Memorials were suggested to the Bible Baptist Church.
