VELVA JEANNE OBSORN

Velva Jeanne Osborn, age 98, of Kahoka, passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

Jeanne was born April 25, 1918 at Revere, a daughter of Earl Orlando and Zola Esther Christy Osborn.

Survivors include one brother, Alva Osborn of Coeur d’Alene, ID; nieces and nephews: Norene McInerey of California, Kevin Osborn of San Francisco, CA, Christy Osborn, of Black Mountain, NC, Wendy Osborn of Madison, WI, Tom Marshall of Ogelsby, IL, Andrea Miller of Draper, UT, Wilda Jeanne Theobald of Payson, AZ, and, Andrew Osborn and Kari Osborn, both of Coeur d’Alene, ID; also several Clark County relatives including a first cousin, Mary Elwell of Revere, MO.

Jeanne received a BS in Education in 1939 from Kansas State Teacher’s College in Emporia, KS, a Master’s of Library Science and a Doctor of Philosophy both at the University of IL, Champaign-Urbana. She was a retired Librarian at the University of Iowa.

Jeanne was a member of Lee’s Summit Presbyterian Church. She loved to travel the world with relatives including Mary. She enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews with shopping trips for school clothes.

Ms. Osborn has been entrusted to the care of Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka for cremation and inurnment will be at a later date in the Revere Cemetery.
