VIRGINIA M. "GINGER" KATSAROS
Virginia M. "Ginger" Katsaros, age 70, of Kahoka, MO, died Friday, December 21, 2007 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.
She was born December 9, 1937 in Antioch, MO, the daughter of Elmer "Doc" and Lavon Ridgely McAfee.
She had been married to Gene Katsaros and they were the parents of Mark and Kimberly.
Survivors include a son, Mark Katsaros and his wife, Maria, of Harrisburg, MO; a daughter, Kim Ayer of Kahoka, MO; four grandchildren: Konrad Scribner of Kahoka, MO and Shaman, Starlight and Samuel Katsaros of Harrisburg, MO; two brothers, Verlin McAfee of Kahoka, MO and Harry Edward McAfee and his wife, Judy, of Quincy, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, P. R. McAfee; and a grandson, Kord Scribner.
"Ginger" was confirmed at the St. Paul United Church of Christ and in recent years attended Peaksville Christian Church. She graduated from Quincy High School and was a housewife for many years. She had been a store manager at the deli in Quincy County Market until recently when her health began to deteriorate.
She was an avid reader and a John Wayne fan. She loved to travel and was always friendly and outgoing to everyone she met.
A memorial service was held Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 1 p.m. at the Peaksville Christian Church with Pastor Shawn McAfee officiating.
Memorials were suggested to the American Cancer Society or to the Konrad Scribner
College Education Fund.
