WALTER H. KINKEADE
Walter H. Kinkeade, age 82, of Kahoka, MO, died Monday, December 4, 2006 at the Keokuk Area Hospital in Keokuk, IA.
He was born October 2, 1924 at rural Alexandria, MO, a son of Edgar A. and Susie
Catherine Wilsey Kinkeade.
He married Mary Alice Brammer on May 26, 1949 in Texas. She preceded him in death on November 8, 2006.
Survivors include a son, Lewis and his wife, Anita, of Columbia, MO; a daughter, Lisa and
her husband, Dr. Kent Wolber, of Hannibal, MO; three grandchildren, Greg Kinkeade and his wife, Rebecca, and Katie Kinkeade, of Columbia, MO and Claire Wolber of Hannibal, MO; two sisters, Nina DeVore of Reno, NV and Mary Jeanette Christensen of Cheyenne, WY; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth Kinkeade of Irving, TX, Helen Hoewing of Davenport, IA, Edna and Glen Buckallew, Zola Brammer, and Naoma Brammer, all of Kahoka, MO; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Dr. Henry Kinkeade; a sister, Alberta Hagerman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bernard Hagerman, Jerry DeVore, Charles Christensen, Harold and Robert Brammer, Wilson Hoewing, Myrtle and Arthur Beall and Lucile Higbee and her husbands Clyde Maddox and Lewis Higbee.
Walter graduated with Mary Alice from Wayland High School in 1941. He was a proud Veteran and was a retired employee of the Burlington Northern Railroad. He was an active and faithful member of the Southern Baptist Fellowship and a Sunday School teacher for many years until recently when his health started deteriorating. He was a member of St. Francisville Lodge # 588, A.F. & A.M. at Wayland and of the Southeast Iowa Antique Car Club. He and Mary Alice were members of C.O.M., Campers on Mission, building churches so the gospel could be spread.
Together, they also faithfully visited hospitals and nursing homes to share the love of Jesus to the sick and lonely.
Walter was the proud bearer of the Olympic Torch as it passed through the St. Louis area in 1996. He also derived great joy from building bluebird houses and from his hobby of picking out black walnuts to share with others. He was a good husband and provider, a fun-loving dad and grandpa. He loved being with others and never met a stranger.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 8, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Brother Dan Steinbeck officiating. Burial with full military rites will follow in the Kahoka Cemetery. Friends can call at Wilson Funeral Home after 9 a.m. on Thursday with family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Southern Baptist Fellowship Church, Wayland.
