Wanda Berg, 82, of Keosauqua, Iowa and formerly of Anson, Missouri passed away at 7:20 am on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at the Keosauqua Health Care Centre in Keosauqua, Iowa.
She was born on April 15, 1941, in Athens, the daughter of the late Joe & Lela (Wilson) Miller. She married Everett Berg on March 24, 1962, in Kahoka and he survives.
Wanda worked her entire life in many different roles including Shaffer’s Pen & Easter’s Grocery Store both in Fort Madison, Iowa, as a clerk at the Assessor’s Office, as a cook at Clark County School RR1 in Kahoka and at Riverside Plastics in Bonaparte, Iowa. Her last and favorite job was Books Are Fun in Fairfield, Iowa, where she made many lasting friendships over her 12 years of employment there.
She was a member of the Anson Community Church where she spent many years as a Sunday school teacher and a Bible School teacher. She also spent several years as an Anson Ladies Aid member where she helped at many local events and at the Annual Anson Fall Supper. Wanda loved spending time outdoors and enjoyed gardening, canning, and especially mowing the lawn (nobody could do it as she could). She loved to spend time with her family. She was always ready for a road trip to watch her grandchildren or great grandchildren at any sporting event.
In addition to her husband of 61 years, Everett Berg, Wanda is survived by her son; son Stephen (Karen Seager) Berg, a daughter; Robin Kovar, four grandchildren; Rebecca (Brandon)Ames, Christopher (Sarah)Berg, Kyle (Elizabeth)Kovar, Chloe (Darren) Cassaday, five great grandchildren; Sarah, Dean, Hunter, Dallas, and Colt, a sister; Wilma Worrell, also surviving are many nieces and nephews, including Susan (Mark) Fye who always had a very special place in Wanda’s heart as she was like another daughter to her. Besides her parents, Wanda was preceded in death by her father-in-law Dale Berg, mother-in-law Coreen (Bivens) Berg, sisters in-law, Phyllis Tucker, Marjorie Sutton, brothers in-law, Harold Marvin Berg, Eldon Berg and Richard Worrell, her beloved dog Max and by several nieces, nephews and many friends.
Memorial services honoring Wanda’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home of Kahoka. Pastor Shawn McAfee will officiate. Inurnment will follow at the Anson Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1st, 2023, from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
