WARDIE M. JONES RHOADS

Wardie M. Jones Rhoads, age 91, of Kahoka, MO, died on Sunday, March 14, 2004 in the Clark Co. Nursing Home in Kahoka.

A mother and friend to all who knew her, she was born August 16, 1912 to Elbert and

Cora Mae Scobee Bachman near Green City, MO.

When she was 16 year old she met Pearl "Pop" Jones as he was known by in Clark County. They were married shortly after on July 7, 1927. To this union two children were born, Gerald Keith Jones on July 27, 1931 and Juanita June Jones on May 29,1936. In 1947 they adopted a baby girl, Billie Joan, when she was just six weeks old. Pearl preceded her in death on August 19, 1965. Following "Pops" death she married Glen Rhoads, a former school mate of hers and farmer. They were married in 1982 until his death in November of 2000. Wardie returned to Kahoka where she eventually entered the Clark Co. Nursing Home and had resided ever since.

Survivors include her son, Gerald Keith Jones of Unionville, MO; daughter, Billie Hatfield of Wayland, MO; five grandchildren: Doug Jones and his wife, Tracy, of Campobello, SC, Debbie Barker of Bonaparte, IA, Heather McVeigh of Keokuk, IA, John Hatfield and his fiancé, Marlene Anderson of Denison, IA, and Kevin Hatfield of Keokuk, IA; eleven great grandchildren, Brandon Jones of Campobello, SC, Amber Barker of Ames, IA, Brittany and Jamie Barker, both of Bonaparte, IA, Maryssa Hatfield, Danielle, Matthew and Courtney McVeigh, all of Keokuk, IA, Hillary Hatfield of Kodiak, AK, and, Tyler and Erika Hatfield, both of Keokuk, IA; as well as a host of nephews, nieces and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Pearl "Pop" Jones and Glen Rhoads; one daughter, Junie; two brothers, Foy and Faye Bachman; and three sisters, Gladys Scobee, Remah Whiteaker, and Rita Overstreet.

Wardie enjoyed country music. She loved early spring and early summer because that meant time spent with family mushroom hunting, picnics by the river, and on occasion, swimming. She loved to write poetry, having several booklets typed and written which she kept in her favorite box. She received recognition by publishing houses on more than one occasion. She also composed numerous copyrighted songs.

She had attended the Assembly of God Church in Green City, MO, as long as her health permitted. Her arms were always open to her grandchildren and all of the kids in the neighbor-hood. She will be missed greatly as she is placed in God's hands. May she now be in peace until we see her as we look forward to the Rapture.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 14, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka with Rev. Allen Coonfield officiating. Special music, "Whispering Hope" and "We're Going Down the Valley" was by Murl and Tharon Guffy.

Pallbearers were John Hatfield, Kevin Hatfield, Douglas Jones, John Spray, Wayne Jones and Cecil Jones.

Burial was in Kahoka Cemetery.

Visitation will be after noon on Monday with family receiving friends 6-8 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.

Memorials were suggested to the Clark Co. Nursing Home Activity Fund.
