Wayne L. Burkhart

Wayne L. Burkhart, 87, of Kahoka, Mo passed away at 11:57 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Scotland County Hospital Memphis, Mo.   Wayne was born on August 13, 1936 to Lyle and Helen (Roberts) Burkhart in Feris, Illinois. He married Mary Darlos (Wear) Burkhart on September 1, 1956, at the Christian Church in La Harpe, IL. Wayne graduated from high school in La Harpe, Il. 

 Farming was in Wayne’s blood.  He immediately after graduating from high school started out raising tomatoes and other produce.  From then on he was a grain farmer and had farmed and fertilized his own crop himself up until the last couple of years.  Wayne and Darlos were also active with their son’s racetrack working the front gate, serving food, and visiting with the people.  Wayne enjoyed going to antique car shows, and old thrashers.  He loved to be with his grandchildren and sharing memories of his childhood with them.     

Wayne is survived by 2 sons: Mike (Mary Ann) Burkhart of Kahoka, Mo., Rick (Nancy) Burkhart of LaGrange, Mo., 1 daughter: Cynthia Burkhart of Kahoka, Mo., 1 brother: Jim (Dale) Burkhart of Tx., 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 1 daughter Tina, and 1 brother Eugene.

 Funeral Services for Wayne L. Burkhart will be held Friday January 26, 2024@ 11:00 am at Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home, Kahoka, Mo. Burial at the Kahoka Cemetery.  Pastor Shawn McAfee will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Wilson & Triplett Funeral Home on Friday, January 26, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Memorials contribution in memory of Wayne Burkhart are suggested to the Kahoka Cemetery or to the Kahoka Senior Center.
