William "Bill" Ragan, 94, of Kahoka, Missouri passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Clark County Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 29, 1931, in Keokuk, IA. The son of Harold S. and Helen V. (Bridges) Ragan. On December 5, 1954, he was united in marriage to Joanne M. (Gutting) Ragan at the First Christian Church in Kahoka, MO and she survives.
Bill graduated from Kahoka High School in 1949. Bill served in the United States Navy from 1951-1953. He owned and operated Ragan Gas Co. alongside Joanne for many years and was an avid local basketball supporter. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the river, playing pitch and showing off his smooth moves on the dance floor with Joanne, his favorite dance partner. He was an active member of the American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Eastern Star, former Clark County Fair Board member, and former member of the Kahoka State Bank Board of Directors. Bill and Joanne faithfully together were attending the Kahoka Christian Church.
Bill is survived by his wife of 70 years Joanne, a son: Kim (Gina) Ragan of Peachtree City, GA, daughters: Shelly St. Clair of Holts Summit, MO., Kerry Cole of Canton, MO., his brothers: James “Jim” (Janet) Ragan of Ankney, IA., Jon G. (Rose) Ragan of Jacksonville, FL., brother-in-law: Roland “Guy” Barrows of Revere, MO., 8 grandchildren: Brady Jamison, Ben (Rachel) Ragan, Briana (Jon) Berggren, Bailey (James) Ragan, Dallas (Adrienne) St. Clair, Betsy (Allen) DeMois, Ethan Cole, 13 great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws: Clell and Mary Gutting, a grandson stillborn: Bo Daniel Ragan, a granddaughter: Taylor Linn Cole, brother and sister’s in-law: William “Bill” and Marlys Gutting, Beverly “Sis” Barrows, and a nephew Gregg Barrows.
Funeral Services for William "Bill" Ragan will take place at 11:00 AM on Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Kahoka Christian Church in Kahoka, Missouri. Pastor Shawn McAfee and Pastor Rick Addison will officiate. There will be a public visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. Masonic Rites will be conducted at 11:00 am followed by Military Rites accorded by the American Legion Post #192 and Navy Honor Guard.
