WINNIE PEARL JINKENS

Winnie Pearl Jinkens, age 95, of El Dorado Springs, MO passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at his home.

He was born September 18, 1922, in Clark County, Missouri, the son of James S. and Letta (Blanton) Jinkens. He married Ida Edlen and they had three children: Pam, Shirley, and Neil. Later they divorced.

On December 24, 1993, he married JoAnn Kirchner in El Dorado Springs, MO.

Winnie attended Hogan School in Clark County. From 1944 to 1946, he served in the Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War. Before his honorable discharge he received: The Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theatre Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Army of Occupation Medal, and Japan Good Conduct Medal.

Returning home, he worked as a mechanic for Allis-Chalmers, Massey Ferguson, and John Deere tractor dealerships. After retiring from John Deere, he drove a school bus for the El Dorado Springs School District until he was 80.

Winnie liked to play pranks on people. He enjoyed working in the garden and yard. He also enjoyed going to Branson and back home to Kahoka to visit family and friends. He was a member of the Christian Church. While living in El Dorado Springs he attended the Church of Christ.

Preceding him in death were: His parents, James S. and Letta Jinkens; siblings, Orris Jinkens, Forrest and Zora Overhulser, Kerdonna and Edward Sabatino, Pauline Meyers, James and Mary Jinkens, Robert and Aileen Jinkens, Kirk Jinkens, and Shirley Jinkens; and one son-in-law, Jeff Otte.

Survivors include his wife, JoAnn of the home; three children: Pam (Mrs. Brady) Rimes of Crane Hill, AL, Shirley Otte of Shelbyville, KY, and Neil Jinkens of St. Louis, MO; one step-son, DeWayne Kirchner of Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren: Toby (Shelli) Rimes of Huntsville, AL, Tyson (Jen) Rimes of Huntsville, AL, Caleb (Rebecca) Doyle of Shelbyville, KY, Brian (Jamie) Jinkens of St. Louis, MO, and Alyssa Jinkens (Charles Barks) of Rolla, MO; and three great-grandchildren: Braden Rimes of Huntsville, AL, Cora Rimes of Huntsville, AL, and Noah Doyle of Shelbyville, KY. Also surviving is one sister-in-law, Anna Jean Jinkens of Keokuk, IA, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

We are grateful for the care given to Winnie by Heartland Hospice Care and the caregivers (Lindsey, Cynthia, Sue, and Steve) who worked with Winnie.

Funeral services for Winnie were held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 10:30 AM at Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka, MO. Burial followed in the Kahoka Cemetery in Kahoka, Missouri with military rites. An earlier service was held Monday, July 30, 2018 at 7:00 PM at Bland-Hackleman Chapel in El Dorado Springs with Steve Knoll and Bret Bland Bland officiating.

Pallbearers were: Toby Rimes, Tyson Rimes, Caleb Doyle, Brian Jinkens, Alyssa Jinkens, and Charles Barks.
